In July and August 2026, we will open Museum Island as well as the Gottorf Globe and Baroque Garden one hour earlier on Saturdays and Sundays – from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Welcome to the Gottorf Castle's Museum of Archaeology!

The Museums Island in Schleswig is the largest museum experience between Hamburg and Copenhagen. Although Gottorf Castle is temporarily closed due to renovation and modernisation works, the Museum of Archaeology continues to host fascinating exhibitions in the historic buildings surrounding the castle. There’s plenty to explore – you’re very welcome!
