Permanent exhibition
The Archaeological Museum Schloss Gottorf maintains, researches and presents our State’s archaeological heritage. It owns more than 10 million findings from 80,000 years’ human history. A large part of the permanent exhibition has previously been on display in the rooms of the castle, which is now closed due to extensive renovation and modernisation work. However, the Schleswig Museum Island remains open.
The Nydam boat – an impressive, well-preserved rowing boat from the Germanic era – is particularly noteworthy and can be viewed in a hall right next to the castle, where an entire exhibition is dedicated to it. MORE…
